BUFFALO, N.Y. - - The Ball State women's tennis team opened Mid-American Conference play with a 6-1 loss at Buffalo Friday afternoon.
"Our team did not adjust well to the windy conditions," said Ball State head coach Christine Bader. "Conference losses are tough, but we will make the adjustments in preparation for Akron tomorrow."
BSU's (5-8 / 0-1 MAC) lone point of the match came at No. 4 singles, with Ashlyn Rang earning a hard-fought 6-4, 6-7 (5), 10-7 victory over Buffalo's (5-6 / 1-0 MAC) Kira Golenko.
The duo of Courtney Wild and Kristel Sanders nearly pulled out a win at No. 1 doubles, but UB's Marta Stoyanova and Tamara Markovic held on for a 8-6 win.
