March 15, 2012 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State field hockey assistant coach Jacque DeMarco has resigned from her position to become the head coach at Kenyon College, a Division III school located in Gambier, Ohio, according to head coach Beth Maddox.
"We are extremely proud of Jacque," said Maddox. "This is an incredible opportunity for her and we know she will do an amazing job. She has worked very hard and is ready to have her own program. We are sad to see her go, but Kenyon is a terrific fit for her both academically and athletically."
In her two seasons at Ball State, DeMarco (2010-11) helped guide Devanny Kuhn to a pair of All-MAC First Team honors and Gretchen Lulow to a pair of All-MAC Second Team accolades. Both players were also two-time Academic All-MAC selections during DeMarco's tenure. She also helped the Ball State field hockey program earn the Gladiator by SGI/NFHCA Division I National Academic Team Award.
Prior to joining the Ball State staff in the spring of 2010, Demarco spent the 2009 season at SUNY Cortland, where she assisted Cynthia Wetmore in all aspects of the program. Under the direction of Wetmore and DeMarco, the Red Dragons maintained a nearly perfect season at 19-1, held a No. 5 national ranking and were an NCAA Regional Finalist team.
DeMarco was also the assistant coach at Hartwick College during the 2007 and 2008 seasons. She has also served as the head goalkeeping coach for the USA Field Hockey Region Four squad since January 2007 and has worked at numerous field hockey camps.
A 2007 graduate of Colgate, DeMarco was a four-year starting goalie for the Raiders and a two-time Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year. In her senior season, the two-time team captain finished No. 2 in the country in saves, and earned first team all-league honors as a senior after earning second team as a junior. She was an All-Region Second Team choice as a senior.
A native of Hudson, Ohio, DeMarco graduated from Hudson High School before earning a degree in sociology and religion from Colgate.
