Men's Golf Finishes Sixth at Pinehurst

Ball State's men's golf team placed sixth out of 12 teams at the Pinehurst Intercollegiate played at Pinehurst No. 6 in Pinehurst, N.C.
The Cardinals tallied a 298-287-303=888 to place sixth, while Old Dominion won the event with an 871.
Tyler Merkel led Ball State and tied for second in the 72-man field with a 73-70-73=216. Michael Kania of Villanova won the event with a 69-68-73=210.
Tony Lazzara and Brodie Williams tied for 21st. Lazzara managed a 73-74-75=222, while Williams posted a 76-69-77=222. Williams' second round 69 was a career low and tied for the third lowest round in the first two rounds.
TJ Carpenter tied for 55th after posting a 76-78-78=232, while Joe Gasser tied for 55th with a 78-74-80=232.
Alex Stinson competed as an individual and tied for 28th with a 74-73-76=223.
The Cardinals will return to action April 6-7 at the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational in Tempe, Ariz.
