Women?s S&D Defeats Southern Illinois, 147-95

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's swimming & diving team improved to 10-3 in the season after defeating Southern Illinois, 147-95, Friday evening at Lewellen Aquatic Center.
BSU scored victories in 9 of the 13 events, with two Cardinals collecting a pair of individual event victories.
Freshman swimmer Carlena Magley (Waterloo, Ind./DeKalb) added a win in the 50 free (24.77) and swam the anchor for the first-place 200 medley relay (1:46.45) before combining with senior Nicole Saulters (Highland, Ind./Highland), sophomore Mia Miller (Goshen, Ind./Goshen) and junior Dana Graunke (Colgate, Wis./Germantown) on the first-place 200 freestyle relay (1:37.87).
Then, sophomore Haley Richter (Roanoke, Ind./Columbia City) tallied wins in the 200 IM (2:08.80) and the 100 fly (56.81) and also swam the third leg for the 200 medley relay.
Junior Katelyn Pratt-Collins (Greenville, Ohio/Greenville) followed with a win in the 100 back, clocking in at 58.53 for Ball State's fourth individual event victory of the day.
Sophomore swimmer Bridgette Ruehl (Lowell, Ind./Lowell) added first-place efforts in the 100 breast (1:04.82) and also swam the second leg for the 200 medley relay, joining Saulters.
The Cardinals' diving corps, led by senior Christina Riordan (Homewood, Ill./Homewood Flossmoor), posted first-place efforts on the 1-meter board (250.57) and 3-meter board (293.70), while senior Whitney Adams (Danville, Ind./Danville) posted third-place showings on the 1-meter (241.57) and 3-meter (264.60) boards, respectively.
Ball State returns to action Saturday at 1 p.m. as the Cardinals take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish from Lewellen Aquatic Center
