Women's Golf Opens Spring Season Sunday

Ball State's women's golf team, under the direction of head coach Katherine Mowat, will open its 2012 spring season Sunday at the Claud Jacobs Challenge presented by SCOR golf.
The 54-hole tournament is being played at Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas. The Cardinals will be joined by Central Arkansas, Eastern Kentucky, Houston Baptist, Houston Victoria, Iowa, Lamar, Louisiana Monroe, McNeese State, Missouri, Ohio, Sam Houston State, Stephen F. Austin, Texas Pan-American, Texas State, Toledo and Western Illinois.
Competing for Ball State at the event will be Jenna Hague, Katie Windlan, Meghan Perry, Autumn Duke and Sarah Westaway.
Hague led the Cardinals with a 77.08 scoring average in the fall and posted four top-20 finishes in the five events. Windlan managed a 79.42 average with two top-20 marks, while Perry tallied a 78.75 average and three top-20 placings. Duke owns a 79.42 average and posted two top-20 finishes in the fall, while Westaway managed an 81.44 average and tied for 25th at the Cardinal Classic in September.
The Claud Jacobs Challenge will consist of 36 holes Sunday beginning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start. The third and final round will be Monday with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
