Women's Tennis Continues Action at Spartan Invite

EAST LANSING, Mich. - The Ball State women's tennis team continued action at the Auto Owners Spartan Invitational at Michigan State Saturday.
In doubles action the Cardinals duo of senior Lauren Pickrel and junior Kristel Sanders took down Big East foe Marquette, 9-8 (3). Pickrel and Sanders then defeated Xavier to advance to the final round Sunday in their doubles C bracket. Sophomore Courtney Wild and teammate freshman Bethany Moore defeated fellow Mid-American Conference contender Miami of Ohio by a score of 8-5.
In singles action, Ball State combined for a 6-1 overall mark against its competition. Sanders won in a 10 point tie breaker for the third set against IPFW which was a comeback for her after being down six points. She will play in the final round of the Draw C consolation bracket. Senior Paola Rodriguez advanced to the final consolation round of her Draw E bracket with a victory over Nicole Janek from Cleveland State.
The Ball State women's tennis team will wrap up its play at the Auto Owners Spartan Invitational Sunday at Michigan State.
