
WBB Loses in MAC Action 76-64 at Western Michigan

KALAMAZOO, Mich. - The Ball State women's basketball team (6-9, 1-1 MAC) fell 76-64 to Western Michigan (5-10, 2-0 MAC) in Mid-American Conference action Sunday afternoon in University Arena.
Ball State's defense held Western Michigan to a 29.6 shooting percentage in the first half but the Broncos rebounded from the field in the second half shooting 44.4 percent.
For the game junior guard Shanee' Jackson led the Cardinals with a personal best 16-point performance. Freshman guard Brittany Carter had 15 points while freshman guard Shelbie Justice ended the day with 11.
Western Michigan took its halftime momentum and went on a 10-0 run at the start of the second period to tie the game 39-39 at the 16:30 mark. The Broncos would eventually take their first lead of the half (46-44) with 13:23 remaining in the game.
The Cardinals continued to trail the remainder of the game despite their efforts to regain control which led to the Broncos victory.
Ball State opened the game with an impressive 5-0 run after back-to-back baskets from Justice. Western Michigan answered back with a three pointer but Ball State went on a scoring spree, putting together a 14-0 run to go up 21-3 over the Broncos with 11:31 remaining in the first half.
The Cardinals defense was impressive throughout the half as they did not allow the Broncos to score a basket for over five minutes while also forcing Western Michigan to have several miscues. The Broncos slowly fought back to cut Ball State's lead to seven 36-29 to end the half.
