
WBB Suffers 84-66 Road Loss at Central Michigan

Central Michigan led the entire second half, the Cardinals were held to a 34.3 shooting mark from the field while, Central Michigan shot 51.6 percent. Junior guard Shanee' Jackson led Ball State with 14 points while sophomore forward Jazmin Hitchens added 13 and senior forward Suzanne Grossnickle had 11. Both Grossnickle and freshman guard Brittany Carter led the squad defensively with seven rebounds apiece.
The Cardinals trailed the Chippewas at intermission by a score of 40-32 after four lead changes and three ties. Central Michigan opened the game with a basket but Ball State answered back quickly with a layup in the paint from sophomore forward Katie Murphy.
Ball State's biggest advantage of the first half was four (11-7) at the 14:10 mark but the Chippewas would soon gain control eventually building a 12-point cushion with 4:07 remaining, the Cardinals came back to within six (38-32) after a three-pointer from freshman guard Shelbie Justice with under a minute left but Central Michigan added another basket to end the half.
The Ball State women's basketball team continues its two-game road -swing Thursday, as the Cardinals travel to Toledo for a 7 p.m. tipoff at Savage Arena.
