Soccer Hosts Marshall Friday On Senior Day

Ball State returns home to the Briner Sports Complex Friday afternoon as it hosts Marshall ... The Cardinals wrap up non-conference play Sunday evening as they make the trip up I-69 and face IPFW at 7 p.m.
Prior to Friday's game against the Thundering Herd, the Cardinals will recognize their two seniors in Christine Concannon and Abby Milillo.
Series History . . .
Ball State and Marshall have met six times in program history but have not played since a 1-0 BSU victory in 2004, Marshall's last year in the Mid-American Conference ... The Cardinals own a 3-2-1 record all-time against the Thundering Herd ... Ball State has won three straight in the series and have posted a 3-0-1 record against Marshall since 2001.
Ball State and IPFW have met seven times in program history with the Cardinals owning a 6-0-1 record against the Mastodons ... The two teams have not played since 2007 with the Cardinals opening the year with a 5-1 victory ... Ball State out-shot IPFW 27-4 in the victory while former Cardinal Sarah Schumacker scored two goals ... The Ball State home game scheduled for Sunday, October 9 against Ohio has been changed to a 2 p.m. start due to a field hockey home game.
Reder Named MAC Defensive Player of the Week . . .
For the second straight week, the Cardinals have been honored by the Mid-American Conference as junior defender Brigit Reder was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week Monday ... Reder, the team's captain and defensive leader, provided stellar efforts on both ends of the field as she scored nine points in two games and helped the Cardinals' defense hold opponents to just three goals in the tournament ... Reder became just the fourth Cardinal all-time to post a hat trick and the first Ball State defender to accomplish the feat Sunday afternoon against Lamar as all three of her goals came in the second half ... Her seven points against Lamar are a Ball State single-game record ... She opened the tournament with a goal against host Northern Arizona.
Freshman defender Pavla Benyrova was named the MAC Defensive Player of the Week (9/5) last week ... Benyrova scored her first career collegiate goal in dramatic fashion against Indiana State, posting the game-winning double-overtime goal to lift the Cardinals to a 2-1 victory.

Ball State claimed the Hilton Garden Inn High Altitude Tournament title Sunday afternoon with a 5-1 victory over Lamar in Flagstaff, Ariz. ... The Cardinals' five goals scored are the most since posting five against IPFW in 2007 (Aug. 31).
Junior defender Brigit Reder posted the fourth hat trick in Ball State history and the first by a defender with three goals in the second half ... Reder raised her team-leading goal total to five and her point total to 11, which ranks second in the Mid-American Conference ... Freshman forward Jasmine Moses scored her first two career goals in the first half, including the game-winning tally ... Moses made the most of her first career start as she scored her first collegiate goal on just her second career shot.

The Mastodons posted a 1-1-0 record last weekend with a 3-2 victory at Niagara before a 1-0 loss at MAC foe Buffalo ... IPFW has also played MAC power Toledo, posting a 4-3 loss on the road.
IPFW has scored nine goals in five games while allowing 11 goals against ... Lisa Underwood leads the team with nine points, on the strength of four goals and one assist ... Tylar Allison is second on the team in scoring with five points as she has scored one goal and handed out a team-high three assists.

Forward Jasmine Moses has scored two goals this season while forward Hannah Chadick and defender Pavla Benyrova have each found the back of the net this season ... Midfielder Becca Sutton leads the team with three assists while Cailey Starck has handed out one helper.

All-Tournament Honors . . .
Junior defenders Skylar Chew and Brigit Reder along with junior midfielder Maggie Brown earned All-Tournament accolades at the WKU Tournament in the first weekend of the season ... Chew and Reder led the Cardinals to a season-opening shutout while Brown scored two goals in two games to open the season.
Looking Ahead . . .
Ball State opens Mid-American Conference play next weekend ... The Cardinals will travel to Kalamazoo, Mich., Friday afternoon to battle Western Michigan before returning home Sunday to face Northern Illinois ... Ball State plays six road MAC games and five home conference games this season due to the conference's rotating schedule.
