MUNCIE, Ind. - - Ball State women's swimming & diving head coach Laura Seibold-Caudill announced the team's 14-meet schedule for the 2011-12 season Thursday afternoon. The schedule includes eight meets at the Lewellen Aquatic Center, as well as four dual meets versus Mid-American Conference rivals.
"I am very excited for the season to get here," said Seibold-Caudill. "We made a lot of strides as a team last season and finished the year with 12 school records. We return a majority of our impact performers from a year ago and have added some very talented freshmen to the mix, which sets us up for a very exciting 2011-12 campaign."
Action in the 2011-12 season beings Oct. 22, when the Cardinals travel to Evansville. BSU will open its home schedule the next weekend with contests versus Milwaukee-Wisconsin (Oct. 28) and league rival Bowling Green (Oct. 29).
After a Nov. 5 dual meet at league foe Akron, the Cardinals will compete in a pair of invitational meets, beginning Nov. 11-12 at the IUPUI House of Champions competition.
The next weekend (Nov. 18-19), the Cardinals host the eighth annual Doug Coers Invitational, which honors the memory of the late Doug Coers (1967-1997), who was a four-year member of the Ball State men's swimming and diving program from 1986-1989.
The Cardinals close out the 2011 portion of its schedule Dec. 10 by hosting Michigan State.
After a month break for the holidays and training, the Cardinals close out the regular season with six consecutive dual meets. The Cardinals will host contests versus Eastern Illinois (Jan. 13), Toledo (Jan. 21), Southern Illinois (Feb. 3) and Notre Dame (Feb. 4), while traveling to Illinois State (Jan. 14) and Ohio (Jan. 28).
The 2012 Mid-American Conference Championships run Feb. 23-25 at the Oliver J. Ocasek Natatorium in Akron, Ohio.
For qualifying individuals, the 2012 NCAA Zone Diving meet will be held March 8-10 at a site to be determined, while the 2012 NCAA Championships will run March 15-17 at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center in Auburn, Alabama.
