Six Men's Golfers Finish Near Top at State Am

Ball State's men's golf team was well represented at the Indiana Amateur Championship at Otter Creek Golf Club in Columbus, Ind.
Tyler Merkel, a freshman on the 2010-11 Cardinals, and Tony Lazzara, a sophomore for Ball State this past season, tied for fifth with four round totals of 292 apiece. Merkel managed a 71-73-75-73, while Lazzara tallied a 68-72-74-78.
Brodie Williams, who was a sophomore last season at Ball State, tied for 10th with a 75-68-78-75=296. Joe Gasser, who was a sophomore last season, tied for 16th with a 73-74-76-76=299.
Connor O'Neal, a Ball State freshman last spring, tied for 18th with a 76-72-77-75=300. Zac Treash, a junior on last year's team, managed a 76-76-75-74=301 to tie for 21st in the event.
