Eric Steger Named MAC Men's Golfer of the Week

Eric Steger, a senior member of the Ball State men's golf team, was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week.

Steger won his first collegiate golf tournament with a one-stroke victory over teammate Tyler Merkel at Ball State's own Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational at Delaware Country Club in Muncie, Ind.

Steger carded a 67-72-75=214 to win the event and lead the Cardinals to a team victory.

Ball State won the event with a 354-372-378=1104 by nine strokes over Bowling Green. The victory marked the 12th tournament title in head coach Mike Fleck's 13 seasons. It also marked the second straight tournament won by a Ball State golfer. Merkel won the adidas Hoosier Invitational April 9-10.
