T&F's Thekla Lorenz Earns Academic All-MAC

MUNCIE, Ind. - - For the second straight indoor season, Ball State track & field senior multi-event specialist Thekla Lorenz (Hamburg, Germany) has been named to the Academic All-Mid-American Conference Team.
Lorenz, a psychology major with a 3.84 grade-point average, earned Second Team All-MAC honors after posting a second-place finish in the pentathlon at the MAC Championships with a score of 3779 points. Among the pentathlon participants, she placed second in the long jump (18-4.25 / 726 pts), third in shot put (38-04.75 / 641 pts), fourth in 800m run (2:25.70 / 748 pts), tied for fourth in high jump (5-4.25 / 771 pts) and eighth in 60m Hurdles (9.08 / 893 pts).
Her season-best efforts placed her first on the squad in the long jump (18-10.75) and shot put (38-04.75), with her long jump ranking eighth in the MAC. Lorenz also ranked second on the squad in the 60m hurdles (9.08) and high jump (5-4.25), while adding season-best times of 1:06.35 in the 400m and 2:25.70 in the 800m.
Lorenz was one of 30 women to earn recognition on the squad. To earn Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50% of the contests for that particular sport. First-year students and junior college transfers in their first year of residence are not eligible for the award.
