Swimming & Diving Announces 2011 Summer Camp Dates

MUNCIE, Ind. - - The Ball State swimming & diving programs have announced their 2011 summer swim camp dates, which include a regular Swim Camps (June 12-17), a High School Swim Camp (June 19-24) and a Three-Day Swim Camp (June 24-26).
This year, swimmers wishing to participate in Ball State's Swim Camps have the option of registering online, in addition to mailing in an application. Below is more information about each camp.
Swim Camp (June 12-17)
COST: $550 for Residential / $430 for Commuter
All meals will be provided for both residential and commuter students.
Swim Camp Philosophy:
BSU Swim Camps provide young athletes, ages 8-18, with a unique, informative, and exciting living and learning experience. The coaching staff is talented and knowledgeable. We maintain a ratio of 1:7 to provide personalized attention. Each camper learns about the latest trends and training techniques in swimming. They will learn how to mentally and physically prepare for competition. Lectures and personalized instruction focus on goal setting, mental training, strength, flexibility, training techniques, nutrition analysis, pre-competitive meals, and how these contribute to swimming performance. The sprint camp gives special emphasis to sprinting and how to swim fast.
Facilities:
The Ball State Swim Camps are held in the Ball State Lewellen Pool, which is home to the Men's and Women's Teams at Ball State. Our beautiful 25 yd pool has 6 lanes with a separate diving well. Ball State has the latest in research and facilities with the "Swimming Flume". The Flume is a unique learning tool offered at BSU. It allows swimmers to swim against the water to evaluate stroke mechanics without moving forward.
Videotape and Films:
Campers will watch their own performance on video replay daily as coaches evaluate and offer advice for improvement. This is an important and beneficial training aid for stroke mechanics.
Housing, Meals, Supervision & Camp Store:
The participants are housed (if you select the housing option) and fed in the modern well-equipped dormitory complex near the pool. All swimmers get breakfast, lunch, and dinner. All campers are closely supervised 24 hours a day by coaches and counselors who live in the dorms with the campers. Each camper receives a free TYR gift at registration. Additional BSU Swimming items will be available to purchase at camp.
Insurance & Transportation:
1. Campers need to have his or her own family medical insurance.
2. Campers are responsible for transportation cost to & from camp.

High School Camp (June 19-24)

High School Camp Philosophy:
The High School Swimming -Training Camp is a special camp designed exclusively for swimmers in high school or entering high school. This pre-season training camp will incorporate all of the aspects covered in our highly successful swim camps. More emphasis will be placed on the physiological and mechanical principles of training, as well as longer workouts.
