Men's Golf in Match Play Event in Florida

Ball State's men's golf team suffered a 9.5 to 2.5 loss in a 36-hole match play event vs. Indiana in Fort Myers, Fla., in its spring season opener.
Indiana won the event which was played at Grey Oaks Country Club.
In the morning matches, the Cardinals fell behind 5-1.
Ball State's Eric Steger and Alex Stinson halved their matches, while Tyler Merkel lost 4 and 2, TJ Carpenter lost 6 and 4, Tony Lazzara lost 4 and 2 and Joe Gasser lost 2 and 1.
The Cardinals were able to score 1.5 points in the afternoon round.
Lazzara won his match 3 and 1, while Carpenter halved his afternoon event.
Steger suffered a 5 and 3 loss in his afternoon contest, while Gasser suffered a 5 and 4 defeat, Stinson was beat 4 and 3 and Merkel lost 3 and 2.
Ball State will continue its spring schedule Friday and Saturday at The Match Play at TPC of Tampa in Tampa, Fla.
