Women's Golf Opens Spring Season in Texas

Ball State's women's golf team opened the spring portion of its 2010-11 schedule at the Claud Jacobs Intercollegiate at the Victoria Country Club in Victoria, Texas, and finished tied for sixth out of 17 teams.
The Cardinals managed a 320-308-316=944 to tie with Mid-American Conference foe Eastern Michigan. Toledo was the only other MAC team at the event and finished 12th with a 960. Texas State won the tournament with a 912, while Kansas was second at 920, Tulsa and North Texas tied for third and Sam Houston state was fifth.
Brittany Kelly and Rachael Pruett led the Cardinals and tied for third in the tournament. Kelly carded a 77-74-76=227, while Pruett managed a 78-74-75=227. Katie Windlan tied for 44th with an 84-79-80=243. Autumn Duke tied for 55th with an 81-81-85=247, and Meghan Perry scored a 94-89-85=268.
The tournament field, including their GolfStat national rankings in parenthesis was: Tulsa (44), North Texas (53), Kansas (65), Toledo (72), UTEP (92), Sam Houston (95), Missouri State (98), Texas State (110), Lamar (117), Houston Baptist (123), Eastern Michigan (133), Ball State (137), Louisiana-Monroe (177), McNeese State (179), UT-Pan American (203) and Stephen F. Austin (216).
Ball State, under the direction of head coach Katherine Mowat, will return to action March 4-6 at the Rio Verde Collegiate Invitational at the Rio Verde Country Club in Rio Verde, Ariz.
