Women's Basketball Wins Big Over Oakland City

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State women's basketball team improved its overall record to 2-3 Monday night at Worthen Arena after defeating Oakland City (0-3), 68-39.
For the game senior forward Suzanne Grossnickle along with teammate freshman Jonessa Moore led the Cardinals with 10-points apiece. The 10-point performance by Moore was a personal best for the true freshman. Ball State also had two players that added eight points on the night, sophomore forwards Katie Murphy and Jazmin Hitchens.
Defensively the Cardinals out-rebounded their opponent 51-to-28 which was led by junior guard Shanee' Jackson, sophomore guard Brandy Woody and Hitchens each pulling down six boards.
The Cardinals started the second half off with a 15-0 run that lasted from the 17:42 mark and ended with 8:29 left to play in the contest, resulting in a 60-28 cushion over Oakland City.
Ball State scored the first four points right out of the shoot before Oakland City made its first basket of the game which made the score 4-2 at the 18:37 mark. The Cardinals then put together a 17-0 run which gave them a 21-2 advantage over Oakland City with 11:51 on the clock. After that Ball State continued its hot shooting ending the first half up 20-points (41-21) over the Lady Oaks. Both Moore and Murphy led Ball State in the first half with eight points apiece while the team shot 50 percent (19-of-38) from the field.
The Ball State women's basketball team travels to in-state rival Evansville, Tuesday, November 29th at the Ford Center. Tipoff is at 6:15 p.m. (EST).
