
Field Hockey Defeated by CMU on the Road

MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich. – The Ball State field hockey team fell to Mid-American Conference opponent Central Michigan, 2-1, Sunday afternoon at the Field Hockey Complex.
The Chippewas were the first to the leaderboard as Erin Dye scored off a Central Michigan penalty corner at 2:24 mark past Ball State senior goalkeeper Chelsea Mitchell (Steven, Pa./Cocalico).
The Cardinals evened the contest at 15:58 mark as senior forward Devanny Kuhn (Louisville, Ky./Sacred Heart Academy) dribbled through the Chippewas' defense and scored her fifth goal of the season.
Central Michigan followed that performance less than five minutes later with a second goal, scored by Paulina Lee, to secure the win.
Freshmen Laura Malinoski (Eastampton, N.J./Rancocas Valley Regional) and Sanne Hermans (The Hague, Holland) tallied three shots each during the contest, while Kuhn recorded two.
Senior defender Gretchen Lulow (Ballwin, Mo./Cor Jesu Academy) and freshman midfielder Tori Widrick (Cazenovia, N.Y./Cazenovia) also posted one shot each, while Mitchell finished the day with six saves during 70 minutes of action in the cage.
Head coach Beth Maddox and the Cardinals welcome the Kent State Golden Flashes to the BSU Turf Field Saturday at 1 p.m.
