Ball State continues its six-game road swing this weekend as it travels to SIU Edwardsville Friday evening at 7 p.m. (CT) and Southeast Missouri Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. (CT).

Last Friday evening the Cardinals picked up a 3-0 victory at IUPUI ... Senior midfielder Missy Gordon gave Ball State the early lead as she scored an unassisted goal just 30 seconds into the contest ... The goal is the fastest goal ever scored by Ball State to open a game surpassing the previous mark by 21 seconds ... Former Cardinal Emily Rein scored just 51 seconds into the game September 24, 2006 against Buffalo ... Gordon's goal is also the fastest goal scored so far this season in the Mid-American Conference.

Friday's game will mark the second meeting all-time between Ball State and SIU Edwardsville ... The Cardinals and Cougars met the for the first time last season in Muncie with BSU taking home a hard fought 3-2 victory ... Ball State jumped out to a 2-0 first half lead thanks to goals from forward Paige Stroinski and Maggie Brown ... SIUE battled back in the second half and out-scored the Cardinals 2-1 in the half but senior Megan Ridley scored the eventual game-winning goal in the 67th minute to hold off the Cougars.
Sunday's game will mark the first ever meeting between Ball State and Southeast Missouri.

Ball State opened the 2010 season with three straight victories and owns a 3-1-0 record on the year entering the weekend ... BSU has posted wins over Xavier, Indiana State and IUPUI while it dropped its lone game at Illinois ... The Cardinals have scored six goals through the first four games and have allowed four goals against.
Senior midfielder Missy Gordon leads the Cardinals with two goals on the year with both goals coming against IUPUI last Friday ... Four other Cardinals, Paige Stroinski, Jacki Eft, Robyn Miley and Alyssa Peterson have found the back of the net this season ... In goal, Aubrey Buehler has played 297:37 minutes in goal and owns a 0.91 goals against average ... Freshman Layne Schramm has played 62:23 in goal and has a 1.44 goals against average.

SIU Edwardsville enters the weekend with a 2-0-0 record on the year ... The Cougars have picked up shutout victories over South Dakota and Eastern Kentucky with both wins coming at home ... SIUE has out-scored opponents 3-0 this season and is out-shooting foes 36-12.
Three different Cougars have found the back of the net this season in Hope Jones, Devon Thomas and Chelsey Johnston ... Claire Lovercheck has played all 180 minutes in goal and has made eight saves while not allowing a goal against.
Scouting the Redhawks . . .
Southeast Missouri enters the weekend with a 2-1-0 record ... The Redhawks have picked up wins over Belmont and Alabama A&M while dropping a contest to South Florida ... SEMO will play Division III national runner-up Washington University Friday ... The Redhawks have out-scored opponents by an 11-6 margin, including a 9-1 victory over Alabama A&M.
Offensively, Ashley Runion has scored a team-high three goals and handed out three assists ... Amy Ward, Stephanie Palmer and Signe' Novak have each scored two goals apiece ... In goal, Ashton Aubuchon has played the majority in goal and has a 2.10 goals against average.
Fresh Faces . . .
Ball State has 15 newcomers on the 2010 season with 11 freshmen and four transfers ... Joining the Cardinals as freshmen are Maggie Hamilton, Kelsey Shapiro, Kaisa Bjorn, Robyn Miley, Sarah Pawelko, Alyssa Peterson, Brittney Graham, Maimee Morris, Michelle Blok, Layne Schramm and Sammy Scaringelli ... Senior Danielle Rogers and sophomore Aubrey Buehler transferred into BSU from Tennessee-Martin after playing for head coach Craig Roberts last year ... Also, junior Amanda Willke (East Stroudsburg) and sophomore Shaniece Thorpe (West Va. Institute of Technology) have joined the program after transferring.
New Face At The Helm . . .
Head coach Craig Roberts became the fourth head coach in Ball State history last spring after serving the past four seasons as head coach at Tennessee-Martin ... Roberts opened his Ball State career with three straight wins, becoming the first coach in BSU history to accomplish the feat ... He joined former coaches Ron Rainey and Michelle Salmon with a win in their first career game as BSU head coach.
Roberts brings a 34-27-12 overall record to Muncie, including 29 wins over the past three years ... He led UTM to an Ohio Valley Conference regular season championship last fall ... Joining Roberts on the sideline this fall is assistant coach Rachel Napoli who was on his staff at UTM ... Also, Chris Westrop and Stephen Woodward have joined the staff as volunteer assistant coaches.
