Eric Steger Advances in Golf's Western Amateur

Eric Steger, who will be a senior on the 2010-11 Ball State University men's golf team, has advanced to the stroke play portion of the 108th Western Amateur at the Skokie Country Club in Glencoe, Ill.
Steger, who won this year's Indiana Amateur Championship, is one of 154 players competing in the prestigious amateur tournament.
Steger managed a first round 76 and is tied for 105th after the first round.
The second round scheduled for completion Wednesday was delayed due to inclement weather. The second round is now expected to be completed Thursday morning with the final 18 holes of stroke play to follow Thursday afternoon.
The cut has been changed to the low 60 players and ties. Following the third round of stroke play, the cut will be made to 16 for match play. Match play is scheduled to begin Friday morning.
The field includes nine of the top 10 players in GolfWeek's amateur rankings and 10 of the top 15 playes in the Scratch Players World Amateur Rankings.
