Men's Golfer Eric Steger Fares Well at U.S. Amateur Championship

Eric Steger, a senior member of the Ball State men's golf team, advanced out of the first two rounds of stroke play at the U.S. Amateur Championship before suffering a loss in match play 2-up after 18 holes to Connor Arendell of Cape Coral, Fla.
The tournament was held at Chambers Bay in University Place, Wash. Steger managed a 75-73=148 to advance to the round of 64 in match play.
This marks the 110th U.S. Amateur Championship and the stroke play rounds were played at the 7,742-yard, par-71 Chambers Bay and the 7,420-yard, par-71 The Home Course.
The U.S. Amateur is one of 13 national championships conducted annually by the United States Golf Association, which include the U.S. Open, U.S. Women's Open, U.S. Senior Open and 10 strictly for amateurs.
