Rachael Pruett Wins Terre Haute Women's Golf Championship
July 28, 2010 | Women's Golf
Rachael Pruett, who will be a senior member of the 2010-11 Ball State University women's golf team, won her third straight Terre Haute Women's City Match Play Championship with an 18-foot chip in on the 20th hole of the final round.
Pruett defeated Indiana State graduate Mackenzie Mack 1-up after 20 holes, which marked the first time extra holes were needed to win the Terre Haute City Championship since 1992.
Pruett shot a 63 in the stroke play qualifier to earn medalist honors and advance to the match play round. After playing even through the first 18 holes, Pruett sank a 10-foot putt to force a second playoff hole. On the 283-yard, par-4 No. 2 hole, Pruett's second shot landed short of the green. Her 18-foot chip with a pitching wedge rolled straight in the hole for the birdie and the victory.
