Field Hockey Announces 2010 Schedule

"This schedule will allow us to compete against high quality competition and gel early in the season as a team," Maddox says. "We are going to focus on the little things. Really concentrate on our fundamentals and get better every day. If we do that then this is going to be a great year for us."
The Cardinals open the 2010 regular season in Farmville, Va. against Longwood Aug. 27, and Appalachian State Aug. 28.
Ball State returns to Muncie to open its home schedule against first time opponent Robert Morris Sept. 3, and St. Louis Sept. 5, at the BSU Turf Field. The Cardinals own a 19-15-1 record in home openers.
The team will play two more non-conference road games against Northwestern Sept. 17, in Evanston, Ill., and Iowa Sept. 18, in Iowa City, Iowa before opening MAC play against Kent State in Kent, Ohio, Sept. 25. Before returning to Muncie, the Cardinals take on Ohio in Athens, Ohio, Sept. 26.
Ball State plays three more conference opponents - Miami University (Oct. 1), Missouri State (Oct. 2) and Central Michigan (Oct. 9) - before taking a mid-season break to welcome non-conference opponent UC-Davis to the BSU Turf Field. The Cardinals versus Aggies match-up marks the second first time opponent on the 2010 schedule.
The Cardinals continue round two of conference play at home against Ohio (Oct. 15) and Kent State (Oct. 17). Then they head to Springfield, Mo. to play Missouri State (Oct. 22) before playing Big Ten powers Indiana (Oct. 24) at home and Ohio State (Oct. 27) in Columbus, Ohio.
The season ends with two more conference contests against Miami University in Oxford, Ohio (Oct. 29) and lastly a Halloween home closer versus Central Michigan.
Following the regular season, the 2010 MAC Tournament will be played Nov. 4-6, in Mt. Pleasant, Mich.
