Four From Ball State Men's Golf Family Advance in U.S. Open Qualifier

Four members of the Ball State men's golf family -- Jamie Broce, Ross Cosat, Andrew Johnson and Eric Steger --advanced to the U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying Round, but all failed to advance beyond that stage.
Cosat, a senior member of the 2009-10 Ball State men's golf team, and Johnson, a 1994 Ball State alum, competed at The Lakes Golf and Country Club in Worthington, Ohio. Cosat tallied a 74-79=153, while Johnson carded a 69-73=142 at the site where 137 advanced.
Broce, who lettered in golf for the Cardinals from 1996-99 and was the 1998 Golf Coaches Association Ben Hogan Award winner as the nation's top collegiate golf scholar-athlete, and Steger, a junior on the 2009-10 Ball State golf team, were among 59 players vying for three spots at the Springfield Country Club in Springfield, Ohio. Broce managed a 76-74=150, while Steger tallied a 74-68=142 at the site where 135 advanced.
