Men's Tennis Defeats NIU 5-1

AURORA, Ill. - The Ball State University men's tennis team defeated Northern Illinois 5-1 Saturday at the Vaughan Athletic Center in Aurora. With the win the Cardinals improve to 16-9 overall and 4-1 in the Mid-American Conference.
Doubles was canceled due to weather conditions and the delay in start time for the match.
In singles action junior Eduardo Pavia won in straight sets at the No. 1 slot after posting a 7-6 (6), 6-1 victory over NIU's Maksym Bartiuk. At No. 3 singles freshman Alex Brym captured a 6-4, 7-5 victory over Javier Bernabe. Freshman Dalton Albertin won in three over Roman Turtygin at position four. Junior Shaun Bussert and sophomore Zane Smith were also winners on the evening.
The Ball State Men's Tennis team hosts the 2010 MAC Tournament Championship Thursday at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center as the No. 2 seed.
