
Softball Ends Season Opening Tourney with 2-3 Mark

Ball State's softball team suffered a 1-0 loss to Southern Illinois Sunday in its final game of the Phyllis Rafter Memorial Tournament in Woodstock, Ga.
Elizabeth Milian suffered the loss after tallying victories in her first two starts of the season. Milian pitched six innings, allowing three hits, one earned run, one walk and striking out nine of the 22 batters she faced vs. Southern Illinois.
Southern Illinois, which finished undefeated in the tournament, scored the game's lone run in the bottom of the sixth inning. With two outs, the Huskies managed a walk and a triple to score the eventual game winning run.
Ball State was led offensively by hits from Alicia Barkley, Alyssa Collins and Amanda Montalto.
With the loss, Ball State falls to 2-3 overall. The Cardinals will travel to the Frost Classic in Chattanooga, Tenn., Friday through Sunday.
