
Women?s Basketball Loses 63-57 To Eastern Michigan

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's basketball team fell to Mid-American Conference West Division rival Eastern Michigan 63-57 Saturday afternoon at Worthen Arena.
The Cardinals drop to 10-15 overall and 4-8 in the MAC, while the Eagles improve to 18-6 on the season and 8-4 in league action.
Senior guard Audrey McDonald led all scorers with 20 points, including four three pointers on the day. Junior forward Emily Maggert earned her 16th double-double of the season after chipping in 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds.
McDonald knocked down her third three pointer of the game to bring Ball State within four (33-28) at the start of the second half. Eastern Michigan rattled off five straight points to go back up 40-31 with about 15 minutes remaining in the contest. The Cardinals came to within five (43-38) after freshman guard Shanee' Jackson hit one from the charity stripe at the 10:59 mark.
Ball State found themselves trailing by as many as nine late in the half but sophomore forward Jade Barber's rebound and put back with 7:10 on the clock brought Ball State back within five (49-44).
With 20.2 seconds left, junior guard Ty'Ronda Benning brought the Cardinals to within four (61-57) but EMU hit its free throws down the stretch to win the ball game.
The Ball State women's basketball team will continue MAC action when it travels to Western Michigan Saturday for a 2 p.m. tipoff at University Arena.
