Soccer's Skylar Chew Named Academic All-District

MUNCIE, Ind. -- Ball State sophomore defender Skylar Chew (Mason, Ohio/Mason) was named to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District V Second Team by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Chew becomes the fourth player in Ball State soccer history to earn Academic All-District accolades as she joins former Cardinals Emily Rein (2008), Amy Holt (2005 & 2006) and Dee Nocero (2002 & 2004).
Chew owns a 4.00 grade-point average in psychology/sociology and has been a two-year starter on defense for the Cardinals. She started all 19 games for the Cardinals this past season and was one of the top defenders in the Mid-American Conference. She tallied her second career assist in non-conference play as she had a helper at IUPUI (Aug. 27). She helped the Cardinals posted four shutouts on the season and post a 7-10-2 overall record on the year, increasing their win total by three over last season.
District V represents Indiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Ontario and Manitoba. The team includes student-athletes who have a 3.30 GPA or higher and are in their second year or later of athletic competition and are not a first year transfer.
