Field Hockey's Sawicki Named Player of the Week

Sawicki tallied the honor for the first time in her career after combining for six defensive saves and an assist on the weekend against the visiting Bobcats and Golden Flashes. Friday versus Ohio, Sawicki recorded a game-high four defensive saves. The elementary education major also tallied two defensive saves, an assist and two shots Sunday against Kent State.
With her team-leading nine defensive saves so far this season, she leads all active BSU players with 11 career defensive saves. Sawicki has also accounted for half of the Cardinals defensive saves so far this season (9-of-18) and ranks first in the NCAA in defensive saves.
Ball State travels to play Missouri State Friday in Springfield, Mo. at 1 p.m., before returning to the BSU Turf Field Sunday to host Indiana in a non-conference contest scheduled for 1 p.m. So far this season, Ball State has tallied a 5-9 record (2-5 MAC). Last season, the squad recorded just four wins overall.
