January 13, 2010 | Soccer
MUNCIE, Ind. - Ball State senior midfielder Megan Ridley (Indianapolis, Ind./Lawrence Central) and junior defender Tina Vannatta (Powhatan, Va./Springboro) have been named to the 2009 Academic All-Mid-American Conference team, as voted by faculty athletic representatives at MAC institutions. This is the sixth straight season in which the Cardinals have had multiple representatives on the Academic All-MAC team.
Ridley, a Second Team All-MAC selection and team tri-captain, earns her second Academic All-MAC honor of her career as she owns a 3.36 G.P.A. in exercise science. Ridley finished the season with a team-high 13 points, as she scored a team-best five goals and handed out three assists. She finished her career ninth all-time in Ball State history in scoring with 30 points, including 11 goals which ranks seventh all-time in program annals.
Vannatta, a team tri-captain, is a former walk-on who moved into a starting role on defense immediately and has been an anchor on the back line for the Cardinals the past two seasons. She owns a 3.95 G.P.A. in exercise science. She has played in 38 games over the past two seasons and has made 35 career starts. She scored her second career goal this season in the Cardinals' victory over Lipscomb.
