Field Hockey Faces Central Michigan Noon Saturday

MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team heads to Central Michigan for its second Mid-American Conference game of the season Noon Saturday. Last year, the Chippewas ended the Cardinals' chances in the first round of the MAC Tournament. However, Ball State owns the all-time series record 39-19.
The Cardinals have a 2-6 overall record with one loss against Miami in conference play, while Central Michigan holds a 2-4 record with a loss to Miami as well for its only conference game.
Hannah Jones leads Ball State with five goals and one assist. Brooke MacGillivary boasts a .750 shot on goal percentage with four goals. Elizabeth Blaum, Brittany Hammer and Devanny Kuhn have also scored at least one goal this season.
On the defensive side, goalkeeper Tiffany Shifflett has stopped 56 shots for a .667 save percentage for the Cardinals. She is 35 saves away from passing Georgette Johnson who is ranked fourth on the career-goalie saves record with 359. Also, Katie Norris and Blaum both logged a defensive save against Ohio State.
ABOUT THE CHIPPEWAS: Lauren Leed has posted four goals for the Chippewas, while Kelly Jordan has earned three goals and two assists. Jordan has also taken 16 shots on goal, more than double of the second highest shot total on the team. The two also combine for seven of team's nine goals. Goalkeeper Melinda Curran has earned a 2.33 goals against average in the cage in all 420 minutes.
COMING UP: Ball State is back at BSU Turf Field for conference action to host Miami 3 p.m. Friday, October 2. On Saturday, the Cardinals host Missouri State 2 p.m. (ET) October 3.
