Women's Tennis Concludes Fall Invitational

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University women's tennis team ended its two-day fall invitational Saturday evening at the Cardinal Creek Tennis Center.
In Flight "B" singles sophomore Kylee Johnson notched two wins on the weekend after defeating Amanda Albuquerque from Wright State Friday, 6-2, 6-2. Johnson then captured a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Sara McLaughlin of Northern Illinois.
Freshman Erica Darud advanced to the semifinal consolation round in Flight "C" singles after earning a 2-6, 7-6 (4), 10-8 win over Taylor Hines of Wright State. Darud would drop the championship match 7-6 (5), 6-4 to Kelly Phillips of Northern Illinois.
Freshman Lauren Pickrel won Flight "D" singles as she took down Jenna Felsher of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (7-5, 6-2) and then defeated Beth Ganser of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in the championship, 6-7 (5), 6-0, 10-2.
In doubles action Hayley Hall and Sarah Hebble won Flight "3" doubles with an 8-2 semifinal win over J. Frey and K. Laird of Eastern Illlinois and then went on to defeat L. Grote and M. Mathews of Dayton, 8-3. The twosome of Pickrel and Dena Boulieris won Flight "4" doubles after posting an 8-1 win over Butler's A. Breitenback and K. King. In the championship they defeated B. Ganser and A. Schoneman of UWM, 8-3.
The Ball State women's tennis team returns to fall play at Cincinnati, Oct. 2-4.
