Women's Tennis Concludes Day One Of Fall Invite

Georgina Thomson won Flight "A" singles consolation round after losing her first match. Thomson defeated Kelly Drvaric of Wisconsin-Milwaukee 3-6, 7-6, 10-7 (8) and will take on Becky Jenkins of Butler Saturday. Lauren Pickrel won her first match as a Cardinal when she defeated Brigitte Graf of Bradley in Flight "D" singles 6-2, 6-0. Pickrel advanced to the semifinals after defeating Stephanie Okuma of Northern Illinois, 6-3, 5-7, 10-2.
In doubles action the Cardinals won in Flight "3" doubles the twosome of Hayley Hall and Sarah Hebble managed an 8-6 victory over Phillips and Forsberg of Northern Illinois. Pickrel and Dena Boulieris paired up and earned the win over Smith and Gray from Dayton 8-2 in Flight "4" doubles.
The Ball State University women's tennis team will continue its fall invitational Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. at the Cardinal Creek tennis center.
