Four Women's Golfers Named All-American Scholars

Four members of the 2008-09 Ball State University women's golf team -- Kirsty O'Connor, Rachael Pruett, Katie Windlan and Sarah Windlan -- were named National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholars.
The NGCA recognizes female collegiate golfers in all NCAA divisions who maintain a minimum cumulative 3.50 grade-point average and competed in at least 50 percent of a school's competitive rounds during the season. Ball State had three selections in 2007-08, including O'Connor, Pruett and Sarah Windlan. This marks the third straight season O'Connor and Sarah Windlan have been named to the NGCA All-America Scholar Team.
O'Connor (Burnley, Lancashire, U.K/Habergham) owns a 3.877 cumulative GPA on Ball State's 4.0 scale as a german education major. She tied the Ball State school record for low 18-hole round with a 69 at the Eastern Kentucky El Diablo Invitational last March. O'Connor managed five top-20 finishes in 2008-09, including three top-five placings. Her best showing was a second place at the El Diablo Invitational. O'Connor, who will be a senior for the Cardinals this fall, tallied a 79.62 average last season.
Pruett (Linton, Ind./Linton-Stockton H.S.) owns a 3.751 GPA as an exercise science major and will be a junior for the Cardinals this fall. She tallied a 78.88 scoring average last season and managed eight top-20 finishes, including one top-five showing. Pruett's top tournament was a tie for seventh at the El Diablo Invitational.
Katie Windlan (Anderson, Ind./Highland H.S.) owns a 3.758 GPA and will return to the Cardinals this fall as a sophomore. She managed an 84.33 scoring average and is majoring in criminal justice at Ball State.
Sarah Windlan (Anderson, Ind./Highland H.S.) completed her collegiate career with a 3.846 GPA as a marketing major and managed an 83.57 scoring average last season.
Ball State, under the direction of head coach Katherine Mowat, won three tournament titles last season ? the Ball State Cardinal Classic, the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational and the El Diablo Invitational. The Cardinals will open the 2009-10 season Sept. 13 at the Golfweek Conference Challenge in Primm, Nevada. Ball State will host the Cardinal Classic Sept. 19-20 at The Players Club in Yorktown, Ind.
