Men's Golfer Eric Steger Wins IGA Public Links

Eric Steger (Noblesville, Ind./Noblesville H.S.), who will be a junior member of the Ball State men's golf team this fall, won the Indiana Golf Association Public Links Championship. The event was played at Royal Hylands Golf Club in Knightstown, Ind.
Steger managed a 67-65=132 to win the event by two strokes over Randy Nichols of Brookville, Ind.
In addition, Ball State's Ross Cosat (Carthage, Ind./Knightstown H.S.), who will be a senior member of the Cardinals golf team in 2009-10, placed seventh after firing a 70-67=137. Ball State sophomore to be Zac Treash (Plainfield, Ind./Plainfield H.S.) managed a 69-70=139 to place 12th in the event.
Steger tallied a 74.45 average for the Cardinals last season. He fired a season low 69 twice during the season, and posted five top-20 finishes, including one top-10 placing for Ball State last year.
