
Softball Closes Season With 4-0 Loss To Akron

AKRON, Ohio ? The Ball State softball team closed the 2009 season with a loss to Akron 4-0 Friday in the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The Cardinals trailed five hits to nine throughout seven innings in the shutout. The team finished with a 29-24 record, 19-5 against MAC opponents.
The Zips logged the first run in the bottom of the first inning. They scored with one runner on, a single through the middle plated one run for Akron. The team led 3-0 in the bottom of the fourth after scoring from third base on a wild pitch and on an RBI single into center field.
After five and two-thirds innings, Elizabeth Milian was relieved by Laura Masch in the circle. Milian earned four strikeouts, becoming the single-season strikeout leader at 203.
Akron sealed a 4-0 lead in the bottom of the sixth, scoring off an RBI single. Ball State attempted a comeback in the top of the seventh as pinch hitter, Milian singled through the left side. She advanced to third on a double by Kamilah Holle. The bases loaded when Lisa Rozanski was walked. However, the Cardinals could not push any runs in, closing the season with the 4-0 loss.
