Men's Golf in Second Place at Michigan State Tourney

Ball State's men's golf team is in second place at the Fossum Invitational in East Lansing, Mich. The Cardinals were in second place at the completion of the first 18 holes, while the second round has been suspended due to weather with approximately 12 holes to play.
The remainder of the second round will begin at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, and the final 18 holes will follow. Ball State managed a 302 team score, while Michigan State leads with a 289.
Brian Maurer, Andrew Rhodes and Anthony Novak each shot 75's in the first round. The Cardinals are behind only nationally ranked and host Michigan State in the 12-team field.
Ross Cosat managed a 77 and Eric Steger tallied a 78 in the first round. Matt Schumaker, who is playing as an individual, has completed only 16 holes in the first round.
Michigan State is hosting the event and the host Spartans and Ball State are joined by Binghamton, Cal State Bakersfield, Long Island, Northern Colorado, Ohio, Ohio Wesleyan, South Carolina Upstate and Waterloo. MSU enters the tournament ranked 37th in the nation, and leads the country with 78 percent of fairways hit on the year.
