Men's Tennis Loses 4-3 To Memphis

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State University men's tennis team lost a close match to Memphis Friday at the Boise State Invitational.
The Cardinals got off to a great start taking an early 1-0 lead over the Tigers after winning the doubles point. The Ball State twosome of sophomore Eduardo Pavia and senior Jorge Rodriguez took down Spencer Heflin and Michael Hayes 9-7 at No. 1. Senior Jose Perdomo alongside true freshman Zane Smith clinched the double win for Ball State after defeating Leon Naseman and Jorge Vazquez at No. 2.
In singles action Pavia was victorious at the top spot over Vazquez, 6-2, 6-4 while teammate Perdomo just one slot under him at No. 2 won 6-3, 6-2 over Benedikt Fischer. The Cardinals then lost its next two matches but freshman Cliff Morrison at No. 5 lost a close three set match to Hayes. Sophomore Shaun Bussert would drop his match to give Memphis the victory.
The Ball State men's tennis team continues action in Boise Saturday against Idaho State.
