Piatt earns his first MAC West weekly honor of his career after he improved to 3-0 on the season as he worked seven shutout innings in the Cardinals' victory over Chicago State. He limited the Cougars to just one hit over seven innings as he struck out a career-high eight batters. He only walked one batter in the victory as the Cougars didn't have a base runner past second base and only had one base runner reach second base. Piatt owns a 3-0 record on the season with a 1.71 ERA on the year as he has struck out 13 batters in 21 innings of work.
Hazelbaker and Piatt join junior left fielder Kory Benbow (Muncie, Ind./Cowan) and freshman first baseman Ian Nielsen (La Porte, Ind./La Porte) as MAC West weekly award winners this season. Ball State is the only MAC West team to earn Player of the Week honors this season as the Cardinals have swept the first four weekly honors. The Cardinals will open MAC play this weekend when they host Akron in a three-game series at Ball Diamond.
