
Men's Tennis Defeats Valparaiso 7-0

MUNCIE, Ind. - The Ball State men's tennis team improved to 5-4 after posting a 7-0 victory over Valparaiso Saturday night at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Cardinals had lost earlier in the day to Michigan State, 5-2.
Ball State took the early lead over Valpo after winning the doubles point. The BSU doubles tandem of senior Jose Perdomo and Jorge Rodriguez defeated Kevin DeHerrera and Adam Whitmer 8-1 at No. 2. Freshmen Derek Carpenter and Jon Wegener sealed the doubles point for the Cardinals at No. 3 after earning an 8-2 win over Kyle Stump and Cartlton Lyons.
The Cardinals won all six of their singles matches. Carpenter was the lone Cardinal to win in a tie breaker over Whitmer, 6-4, 1-6, 10-4.
The Ball State men's tennis team hosts Purdue Sunday, March 1 at Noon.
