
Men's Tennis Evens Record at 4-4 After Loss to Michigan State

Ball State's men's tennis team suffered a 5-2 loss Saturday to Michigan State, and will host Valparaiso at 6 p.m. at the Muncie YMCA Tennis Center. The Spartans, under the direction of Ball State alum Gene Orlando, improved to 9-1 with the win. The Cardinals evened their season record at 4-4.
Jose Perdoma, a senior for the Cardinals, teamed with senior Jorge Rodriguez to win at No. 1 doubles. The duo defeated Austin Brooks and John Stratton of MSU 9-7. Shaun Bussert, a BSU sophomore, and doubles mate freshman Zane Smith, tallied an 8-6 win over Clark Richardson and Alex Forger to give Ball State a victory at No. 3 doubles and earn the Cardinals the doubles point. Perdoma and Rodriguez improved to 5-3 in doubles this season, while Bussert and Smith evened their season record at 2-2.
Freshman Cliff Morrison was the only Ball State player to tally in singles with his 2-6, 6-1, 6-4 win at the No. 6 spot. Morrison defeated Jason Norville of Michigan State to improve his season singles record to 4-1 on the season.
