Women's Golf Opens Spring Season Sunday

The Ball State University women's golf team will open the spring portion of its schedule Sunday at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate at Oak Point and Cougar Point Golf Courses in Kiawah, S.C.
The Cardinals, under the direction of head coach Katherine Mowat, won two tournaments this past fall -- their own Ball State Cardinal Classic and the Iowa Hawkeye Invitational.
Sophomore Brittany Kelly leads the Cardinals with a 75.78 average after 14 rounds of fall golf, while junior Kirsty O'Connor is second on the team with a 77.93 average. Freshman Kristtini Cain has a 78.14 average after the fall portion of the schedule, while sophomore Rachael Pruett owns a 78.57 mark.
The Kiawah Island Intercollegiate is a 43-team tournament being played on two courses. The Cougar Point Golf Course will be played at a par-72 and at 6,009 yards, while the Oak Point will be played to a par-72 at 5,907 yards. The Cardinals will participate in a practice round Saturday and the tournament will start with tee times Sunday between 9 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on both courses. The second round will begin with tee times at 9 a.m. Monday. Tuesday's final rounds will feature the top 22 teams at Cougar Point and the remaining squads at Oak Point.
