November 06, 2009 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. - Two Ball State field hockey players took home All-Mid-American Conference honors at the league tournament banquet Thursday night. Senior forward Brooke MacGillivary earned First Team honors, while sophomore midfielder Devanny Kuhn earned Second Team recognition.
MacGillivary's selection marks the third year in a row she has earned All-MAC honors. She has been a consistent offensive threat with 45 shots for the Cardinals, while tallying five goals and adding one assist this season for 11 points. Three of her goals came in back-to-back wins against Davidson and Appalachian State in late-August. She is tied for third on the team with a .622 shot on goal percentage.
Kuhn, who has started every game in her two-year career, is a first year recipient of the award. The sophomore led the team with three assists and five goals for a total of 13 points. She recently earned Offensive Player of the Week honors for her four-goal performance in the team's second conference win.
As a team, Ball State has now had at least one player selected to the All-MAC second team for seven consecutive years.
