Women's Tennis Finishes Day One At Queen City Invitational

CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Ball State University women's tennis team completed day one of action at the Queen City Invitational hosted by the University of Cincinnati Friday evening.
In A singles round of 16 junior Georgina Thomson dropped her match but would defeat Loni Dickerhoof, 6-1, 6-2 in the consolation bracket. In the flight B singles bracket senior Katherine Rist captured a 7-5, 6-2 win over Bradley's Kelly Donohue. Rist would then fall to Ashley Frey 6-4, 6-3 of Toledo in the quarterfinals. Junior Hayley Hall fell in the round of 16 in the B singles flight. Hall captured a 6-3, 6-2 victory in consolation play over Jessica Buterbaugh.
Sophomore Sarah Hebble advanced to the quarterfinals of Flight C after defeating Kelsey Kinnard, 6-3, 6-3 of Xavier, she would then lose to Jessica Easdale of Bowling Green in three sets 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Dena Boulieris was a winner in the Flight C consolation bracket after posting a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Jessica Azoulay.
In flight D singles Ball State freshmen Paola Rodriguez and Annica Darud both advanced to the semifinals. Rodriguez won 7-6, 6-3 against Catie Wickline of West Virginia. Darud took down Brigitte Graf of Bradley in two sets, 6-1, 6-3.
In doubles action the Cardinal twosome of Annica Darud and Kylee Johnson earned an 8-1 victory over Brigitte Graff and Kennedy Scott of Bradley. Boulieris and teammate Lauren Pickrel also won in the flight B doubles after capturing an 9-7 win over Katie Grubb and Jade Johnson of Bowling Green.
The Ball State women's tennis team continues action at the Queen City Invitational Saturday.
