Men's Golf Ties for Seventh at Rutherford Intercollegiate

The Ball State University men's golf team tied for seventh place out of 12 teams at the Rutherford Intercollegiate at Mystic Rock in Farmington, Pa.
The Cardinals shot a third round team score of 292, their best round of the tournament, to move up three spots at the tourney. Ball State's three-round total of 908 tied Bowling Green for seventh and placed the Cardinals ahead of Toledo (918) from the Mid-American Conference. Purdue won the event with an 871.
Brian Maurer finished 16th in the 60-player field after shooting a 73 in the final round. Eric Steger tied for 17th after carding a 73 Tuesday. Andrew Rhodes tied for 24th with a 73 in the third and final round. Ross Cosat managed a 73 on the final day and tied for 45th, while Matt Schumaker carded a 79.
The Cardinals will return to action Monday and Tuesday at the John Piper Intercollegiate in Bowling Green, Ohio.
