Andrew Rhodes Named MAC Men's Golfer of the Week

Andrew Rhodes (Sweetser, Ind./Oak Hill H.S.), a senior member of the Ball State University men's golf team, was named the Mid-American Conference Golfer of the Week for his performance in Ball State's play at the Wolf Run Intercollegiate.
Rhodes led Ball State to a sixth-place finish by carding a 72-75-73=220 in the tournament held last Sunday and Monday at Wolf Run Golf Course in Zionsville, Ind. This marks the second time in his career, Rhodes has received the weekly honor, he was also named MAC Golfer of the Week April 4-5 last spring for his performance in the Marshall Invitational.
The Cardinals placed sixth in the 14-team event, and placed higher than the four MAC schools in the competition. Eastern Michigan was seventh, Kent State finished 10th and Toledo placed 12th to round out the league competition.
Rhodes leads Ball State with a 74.66 average through the team's first three tournaments this season.
Ball State will host its own Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational Monday and Tuesday at Delaware Country Club in Muncie. The 12-team event is named in honor of Yestingsmeier, who was Ball State's head men's golf coach for 31 years plus doubled as the school's sports information director for 28 of those seasons. The tournament format will consist of 36 holes Monday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start and the final 18 holes slated for Tuesday with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.
