Field Hockey Falls To Saint Louis 2-1
September 14, 2008 | Field Hockey
MUNCIE, Ind. ? The Ball State field hockey team dropped its fifth game of the season on Sunday as the Cardinals fell to Saint Louis 2-1 at the BSU Turf Field.
Senior forward Casey Hunsicker (Myerstown, Pa./Tulpehocken) scored her first goal of the season during the last five minutes in an attempt to spark a comeback for the Cardinals. Hunsicker led the team with four shots on goal, but would be the lone Ball State player to score.
Senior defender Jodi Mann (Clifton, Va./Centreville) recorded her first defensive save on the season, but Ball State's three saves would not be enough to stop Saint Louis' Molly Boyne and Sarah Lohmann from scoring a goal each.
Ball State led all categories by nearly double except for goals scored and saves. Junior goalkeeper Tiffany Shifflett (Yorktown, Va./Hampton Roads Academy) played all 70 minutes and added two saves to her career.
The Cardinals are back on the road as the team heads to Columbus, Ohio to play Big Ten opponent Ohio State Wednesday, September 17 at 3 p.m.
