Women's Golfer Completes Play at European Championships

She teamed with Stephanie Evans to win her second match play battle over a team from Switzerland 2 and 0 on the final day of competition. O'Connor teamed with Evans to win a first-round match play contest 3 and 2 over a team from Finland. O'Connor and Evans suffered a 6 and 5 loss to a team from Norway in the second round of match play.
Wales placed ninth out of 16 teams in the stroke play portion of the Championship, and 11th of 16 in the match play portion of the event. O'Connor, who registered a victory in the prestigious Welsh Ladies Closed Championship to earn the right to represent Wales at the European Team Championships, managed an 83-77 in the stroke play rounds.
Sixteen teams played for the European Team Championships, including Austria, Belgium, Denmark, England, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Norway, Scotland, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Wales.
O'Connor was named to the All-Mid-American Conference Second Team last spring. She posted an 81 in the final round of the MAC Championships and placed 28th in the tournament. O'Connor led the Cardinals with a 77.33 average in 2007-08. She competed in all 27 rounds for Ball State and managed a low round of 70 at the MAC Tournament Preview Sept. 11 at The Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis. The Cardinals, under the direction Mowat, won four tournaments last season. Ball State won in its season-opening event last fall and then posted three tournament wins this past spring.
