MUNCIE, Ind. ? First-Year Ball State soccer head coach Michael Lovett announced the hiring of Amber Alexander to the position of assistant coach on Monday afternoon. Alexander will begin her duties at Ball State immediately.
“We are very fortunate to have Amber join our program,” Lovett said. “She adds just the right element to help us achieve a new level of success. Her recruiting knowledge and contacts were a key element in her selection. She will no doubt help direct the future of our program.”
Alexander joins the Cardinals after spending the past three seasons on the staff at Xavier University. She was responsible for all aspects of recruiting and compliance at Xavier in addition to assisting with academic integrity and success of the student-athletes. She also assisted in the organization of team practices, competition and daily operations.
“I am truly excited about joining Coach Lovett on staff here at Ball State,” Alexander said. “I am fortunate to become part of an excellent program, and I look forward to being part of the program's level of excellence”
Alexander earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in kinesiology with a concentration in teaching/coaching from the University of Texas at Arlington in 2005. She played club soccer at UT-Arlington during her collegiate career.
Alexander has a variety of coaching experience, including holding her USSF "D" Coaching License. She trained with Ohio Elite, the Warren County United and Mason/Thunder United. In Texas, she coached with the Black Magic Soccer Club, American Eagle Soccer Club and the Dallas Texans Soccer Club. In addition, she has worked a number of summer soccer camps, including Notre Dame and Xavier.
Alexander and the Cardinals conclude their spring season this weekend, as they travel to Illinois Saturday afternoon the annual Alumni contest Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. at the BSU Soccer Field.
