
Softball Ends USF Tournament With A Victory

CLEARWATER, Fla. -- The Ball State softball team defeated Georgia Southern 4-2.
The Cardinals ended the tournament with a 3-1 record and would have played in the championship round, but the schedule had to be revised due to the weather.
Ball State picked up two runs in the bottom of the first inning. Abby Gross hit an RBI single to left field. Allie Pennock scored the first run of the game.
Amanda Pick hit an RBI single through the left side on the infield that allowed Gross to score the second run for the Cardinals.
Ball State picked up their third run off a sacrifice fly by Gross.
The Eagles hit back-to-back home runs in the fourth inning to pull within one run of BSU.
Pick recorded her second RBI of the game in the fifth inning allowing Pennock to score increasing the BSU lead to 4-2.
Tiffany Garofano threw a complete game to earn her fifth win of the season. She struck out eight batters and only allowed four hits.
The Cardinals were 9-4 over spring break, bringing their overall record to 16-12. Ball State will host Eastern Illinois in a doubleheader March 18.
